Incorporating Things of Diverse Culture and Regenerating Bravely: An Interview with Prof. Feng Tianyu
Abstract: The cultural history of human beings is the history of cultural spread and communication. In the context of globalization, although the process of cultural spread and communication has harmonious elements, there still exists more conflicts. In order to clarify the cause and effects of those conflicts from the perspective of cultural history, and to discuss the relevant issues in China's cultural development in the realistic context, The Editorial Department of “Culture Development Review”has taken another interview with Professor Feng Tianyu, Senior Professor of Humanity and Social Sciences in Wuhan University and Head of Research Center of Traditional Chinese Cultural Studies in Wuhan University. Prof. Feng Tianyu believes that the progress of a nation and a country needs the communication with the external culture from the perspective of human beings' cultural history. The cultural system without communication is a static system without vitality, so a nation without communicating with the external culture cannot be vigorous. Based on the process of globalization, modern China not only needs to take advantage of western culture, but also should offer our cultural innovations to the world so as to realize two-way communication. Only learning from other cultures and promoting our own culture can it realize the healthy interaction, which is the appropriate way for incorporating things of diverse culture as well as the development direction of Chinese culture.
