Significance, Effect and Impact of the Strategic Conception of Silk Road Economic Belt
Abstract: The strategic conception of joint construction of a “Silk Road Economic Belt”first proposed in 2013 by Chairman Xi jinping has great strate-gic significance. It provides China with an important strategic opportunity to accelerate the implementation of the development strategy for China's central and western regions, and maintain the stability and development of China's border areas. The initiative for “Silk Road Economic Belt”, being the most important adjustment in China's westward development strategy, will facilitate economic integration of China with neighboring countries to the West and those in Europe while at the same time strongly improving China's national image. Meanwhile, some global impacts can be anticipated, mainly on the compatible and conflicting aspects of China's Central Asia strategies with those of other major powers and the EU.
