Abstract

“The Marx - Engels Problem”is the one that has been proposed and developed in“Western Marxism”and the west“Marx Studies”and that has been causing controversies in our Marxism studies. Is Marx concordant with or opposite to Engels in thought, or even does there exist the“key difference”or the“substantive disparity”in it?“The Marx-Engels Problem”has become a hot topic again since the new era in the context of the domestics scholarly circle's“Going back to Marx”,“Rereading Marx”and“Reunderstanding Marx”.

Such a series of problems discussed here as“the Feuerbach Problem”,“the Dialectics of Nature Problem”,“the Engels Interpretation Problem”,“the Engels's Editing and Amendment Problem”,“the‘philosophy and the World Outlook'Problem”and so on are all most important ones in relative with the Marx - Engels thought, Marxist philosophy, and even with what kind of understanding of Marxism, therefore, they should never be belittled and neglected in our Marxism studies, especially in our Marxist philosophy studies;and on this account does the importance of research in“The Marx -Engels Problem”come out.

It is most important to establish the“subjective consciousness”and“methodological self - consciousness”of research in“The Marx - Engels Problem”in order to lead it to a much more depth so as to surpass“Western Marxism's”and the west“Marx Studies”research framework and existing conclusions and to propose“Our Problem”and seek out solution to that, so that our research can really contribute both to understanding of the“Protoform”of Marxist philosophy and to deepening studies of the morphological history of Marxist philosophy and creatively developing the new form of contemporary Chinese Marxist philosophy.

The socalled“The Marx-Engels Problem”, in essence, is our problem with the understanding of Marx and Engels, rather than a“The Marx-Engels problem”in Marx and Engels itself, thus the“opposites”,“disparity”between Marx's and Engels's thoughts actually come from the“opposite”and“disparity”in opinions harbored by the subsequent researchers themselves. As for“The Marx - Engels problem”in Marx and Engels itself, here is the“homogeneous distinction”between Marx' s and Engels' s thoughts, no“heterogeneous disparity”, no“substantial gap”, and no“opposites”.Essentially, their thoughts are concordant with each other.
