Abstract

During the Anti-Japanese War, Japan launched the invasion war in China, established a puppet government at all levels and wantonly implemented slavery education, which resulted in complicate pattern shaping in China's regional education. Shanxi was the typical representative of this complicated pattern. Its main educational types were education of base areas under the leadership of the communist party, the Jin West education under Yen Hsishan's withdraw and the slavery education under the rule of puppet government. In the process of clash and game, those three types of education respectively extended their influence in accordance with its own advantages. The slavery education, on the basis of military, coquetted educators and the masses with strong military strength and compelled our people to accept the slavery education passively. Yen Hsi-shan's Jin West education, which based on politics advantage, initiated national calamity education with its political advantage and the influence in people under its long reign of Shanxi. Education of base area, taked public opinion as foundation, adhered to the mass line, gained the masses of people's support, thus implemented the revolution education. Therefore, the complex pattern appeared in the regional education under clash and game among various types of education.

This book attempts to apply the power and authority related theory of Dennis H. Wrong, non-cooperative game theory of John Nash, and ·4·the dynamic games and repeated game theory of Graham Romp, who are American political sociologists, to analyze comprehensive drivers of Shanxi's education pattern complication during the Anti-Japanese War. All those three types of education sponsors all tried to get his power in the general, but they used different means. The Japanese aggressors used mandatory authority, Yen Hsi-shan's government used the inductive authority, while the communist party used the legitimacy authority. Therefore the revolutionary base education was doomed to win at last. In addition, this book also analyzes comprehensive drivers of Shanxi's education pattern complication during the Anti-Japanese War from the diversity and complexity of the landform, the education foundation in the early years of the republic, the destruction of the original education caused by Japan, the reflection of power game and military war in education, and so on.

Through analyzing historical materials, oral history method, measuring historiography method, comparative analysis and other methods, this paper makes a vivid and live show of three types of education's situation appearing in Shanxi province during the anti-Japanese war. Firstly, it researches the revolutionary base education under the leadership of the communist party. It mainly takes the elementary education, secondary education, higher education, teacher education, cadre education and social education in Jin-Sui and Jin-Cha-Ji base area as the research objects. It vividly represents the rural education development situation of Shanxi province under the leadership of the communist party in 1930 s by a lot of first-hand materials, and summarizes the main characteristics of education base areas. Secondly, it researches Jin West education under Yen Hsi-shan's. The key research point is after Taiyuan's fall and Yen Hsi-shan's withdraw after Jin West, “in this rule area which was less than one eighth of Shanxi total site, he enjoyed the dictatorial right which he had tried to want to get but hadn't get before Japanese invading Shanxi but in this small projectile rule range”. Therefore, he has endeavored to build Jin West such the barren hill land and strived to change its extremity of destiny through artificial efforts. In order to implement its“melting pot”plan and practice its“seeding valley”education concept, he initiated basic education, cadres education, higher education and social education in the Jin West area. Although the condition was simple and crude, it received some education effect, such as national revolutionary university, the melting pot training base, gram difficult slope primary and middle school, which became an unignorable educational strength in Shanxi province at that time. Finally, this paper researches the slavery education in the Japanese-occupied areas under the rule of the puppet government. It makes a preliminary study from the slavery education's main purpose, policy, content, teachers, curriculum setting and implementation of puppet basic education, higher education puppet, teacher education, vocational education and social education, study abroad education to, strive to achieve the research of original education at that time. Furthermore, this paper concludes the puppet slavery education's properties, characteristics and the negative influence in Shanxi society.

This book uses complexity theory and game theory to analyze the complex relation of the three types of education and the clash and game with each other, including the base area education and Jin West education from afar. Under the situation of cooperation than exclusive circumstance, they jointly resisted the puppet slavery education in the Japanese-occupied areas. The revolt to slavery education became underlying dynamic of the base area education and Jin West education, accelerating their development under the simple and crude condition. If before 1940 years the base area education and Jin West education gave priority to cooperation, thus in the later period of Anti-Japanese War in Shanxi province these two types of education were in competition with game, ending in the win of base area education.

Finally, this book summarizes the characteristics and the ·6·influence of the complicated regional education pattern during Anti-Japanese War. Its key point is the base area education under the leadership of the communist party, the boosting education and the slavery education under the puppet government. The difficult point is to use the game theory and the complex theory to analyze the complicated relationship among three kinds of education, aside from political factors only from education's inner part to find base of education find the vitality inner mechanism of the base area education, and then explore a realistic paths for today's Midwest rural education development.
