Section II Styles of Business Letters
Business letters have three styles: the intented style, the blocked style and the modified style. People nowadays tend to use the full block style to save time. Here are examples of the three styles.
1.The Blocked Letter Style
In blocked style, each line should be written from the left margin in block. But sometimes letter-heads can be centered. There are two line spaces between paragraphs. This style is easy to control and practise, so it is much popular with more practitioners.
2.The Indented Letter Style
As the name suggests, the indented style means that the second line and the succeeding line of the inside address should be indented three or five letters. So does the beginning of each paragraph in the body of the letter. Please note that the indented letter-space should be the same in one letter.
3.The Modified Indented Letter Style
The modified indented style has blocked-like and indented-like characteristics. The inside address and other parts which have more than one line use blocked style, while the beginning of each paragraph in the body of the letter will indent several letter spaces.
The following three examples show us the styles of the above respectively.
