Acknowledgments

So many people to thank and so little space.

Our first thanks go to all past and present staff members, customers, vendors, and investors of Hanna Andersson and the Longfellow Clubs. Our success as entrepreneurs was directly tied to the support of these individuals and businesses.

Much appreciation goes to Mal Warwick for pioneering the idea of this outstanding SVN book series, for pushing it into reality, and teaching us how to write in a way that is fun and readable—and for his strong and stabilizing leadership of SVN. We must also acknowledge the contributions of co–executive directors Deb Nelson and Pam Chaulout, who helped bring this series into reality and whose leadership has taken Social Venture Network to new heights of accomplishment.

Thanks to Johanna Vondeling, whose clear and patient guidance enabled two first-time authors to put into words what we feel and think. Thanks also to Sharon Goldinger, who did major editing and cutting in such a skilled manner. As we look back on it, we're amazed at the effort and time that goes into writing 192 pages. The whole team at Berrett-Koehler has been wonderful.

Thanks to Alissa Keny-Guyer and Rachel Rosenthahl for their work on the nonprofit chapter and to Carol Atwood, David Berg, Adnan Duranni, and Leslie Christian, who collaborated on the complicated chapter on building financial partnerships.

And finally, thanks to all the entrepreneurs we featured in this book (and those that were unfortunately cut out because of lack of space), all of whom are doing such good work and were willing to share their remarkable stories.
