Kate: We were discussing the food pyramid in class today.

Jack: You mean all the food groups?

Kate: Yeah, but in the shape of a pyramid.

Jack: I see. So, what should we be eating?

Kate: Lots of vege and fruit, for one thing. Fish, of course.

Jack: What about meat? Is it still OK to eat pork, beef, lamb, chicken and so on?

Kate: Yes, but not too much of it. People these days should pay more attention to their hearts and cholesterol levels.There's also more talk these days of antibiotic resistance to infections because of the meat we consume.

Jack: Yeah. I've heard about that… Bacteria, called“superbugs” that are resistant to all known antibiotics.

Kate: Yeah.Scary stuff!

跨文化交际小常识

公交车是纽约市民和学生最常用的代步工具。纽约市五个区，共有3700辆公交车，行驶在200条线路上，每一区的公交车分别用该区英文名的第一个字母进行标注，如：曼哈顿Manhattan——M；皇后区Queens——Q；布鲁克林Brooklyn——B；布朗士Bronx——BX；史坦顿岛Staten Island——S。字母后面的数字即该区某一线路的公交车。大多数巴士不跨区行驶，少数例外，但各区均有快车通往曼哈顿。在公交上，乘客可以通过两种方式示意司机停车：点击两个车窗之间的一个胶带似的黄色长条形橡皮开关（Tape Strip），或者点击扶手栏上的停车按钮（Stop）。在一些公交车门上，也会有一个黄色长条形橡皮开关。如果点按该开关，门会自动打开。
