The minute I opened and read Xiao County—The First County Leading China's Anticorrosion Industry, the course of development of anticorrosion industry in Xiao County over the last five decades flashed back.
The anticorrosion industry in Xiao County has developed into a well-known regional economy brand across China. Early in the year of 1969, the anticorrosion industry in Xiao County began to distinguish itself in industrial fields in the form of contracting, and became the pioneer of China's anticorrosion industry. With the entrepreneurship featuring "be daring to take initiatives" and the spirit of innovation featuring "be bold in exploring the unknown", the people engaging in anticorrosion industry in Xiao County have made solid progress step by step. We have not only seen the extension of the whole industrial chain but also are glad to know that industrial clusters, which stimulate the overall development of national economy in Xiao County, are taking shape.
Based in Xiao County, over 30 anticorrosion construction and production bases have been established in places such as Daqing, Xinjiang, Qinghai, Inner Mongolia, Guangzhou, Dalian, with the whole engineering project covering a wide range of 32 administrative regions of provincial level across China. In 1994, anticorrosion industry in Xiao County began to make itself known in the global market. By the year of 2016, its business operation has expanded to 38 countries including Germany, Russia, Armenia, Thailand, Qatar, Japan, Sri Lanka and Turkey. With its strength in technology, human resources, market resources and high quality products, Xiao County has been awarded "The First County Leading China's Anticorrosion Industry" in October, 2005 and became a national brand since then. In April, 2009, Xiao County successfully held the Fourth China International Corrosion Control Conference. This conference set a record high in terms of the participating leaders, the scale of the conference and exhibition, the actual results delivered from the conference, as well as its influence afterwards, and made significant contribution to the development of anticorrosion industry in China, and played a critical role in building a resource-efficient and environment-friendly society.
Xiao County, with its rapid social development, has demonstrated a new outlook we had never seen before, and from the perspective of Xiao County's people, the city has progressed at least 10 years ahead in terms of the benefits and satisfaction they obtained.
The anticorrosion industry has been the pillar industry of Xiao County since 1980s. With the expansion of the industry, the industrial chain has been extended to production of anticorrosion coating material, manufacture of anticorrosion machines and tools, equipment manufacture, site operation and personnel training. Xiao County has witnessed a rapid development in anticorrosion industry, especially after the convening of the China International Corrosion Control Conference. The total capacity has grown rapidly and anticorrosion industry has become a major boost for the economic growth of Xiao County.
In the year 2015, the GDP, fiscal revenue and the per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents in Xiao County are twice, 3.3 times and twice respectively as much as that of 2010. Economics Competitiveness Report of Counties in Anhui Province 2016 shows that Xiao County ranks among the best in terms of competitiveness in development speed (ranking the top on the list), industry competitiveness, competitiveness in development vitality, as well as economy with local characteristics.
We summarize past experiences to create a better future. From a new historical start point, we should implement in the anticorrosion industry in Xiao County the guiding principles drawn from the series of remarks by General Secretary Xi Jinping and constantly remind ourselves of the Two Centenary Goals ( i.e., finishing building a moderately prosperous society in all respects by the time the Communist Party of China celebrates its centenary in 2021; and turning China into a modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, and harmonious by the time the People's Republic of China celebrates its centenary in 2049), implement the Five Development Concepts featuring innovation, coordination, green development, opening up and sharing, and integrate our development with "green anticorrosion and scientific anticorrosion" and strive to serve the Belt &; Road Initiative in realizing the grand dream of anticorrosion. We should aim at creating a global brand in the anticorrosion industry in Xiao County, and be actively involved in the process of standard setting in full-life cycle of corrosion control and international standard setting. We should do as required by the International Organization of Standardization (ISO) and seek what can be further improved in the aspects of quality, service, technology innovation, tangible assets as well as intangible assets, and take solid steps to forge ahead with clear goals, capable organizations and feasible plans. Innovation should be deemed as the key drive in pursuing anticorrosion industry in Xiao County. We will integrate science innovation, people innovation, standard innovation, integrity innovation and brand innovation in order to enhance our core competitiveness. New breakthroughs should be made in making more reliable products, providing more convenient service and more advanced technology. The comprehensive strength of our brand should be further enhanced in order to realize our initial goal of building China's first international brand in anticorrosion industry and drive the Chinese brand onto the world stage.
Anticorrosion industry in Xiao County plays a leading role in the industry across China. We will, as always, support the anticorrosion industry in Xiao County. We hope that Xiao County will be courageous and ambitious enough to lead the industry, and will strive to get to the top in the international market and deliver good results to citizens in Xiao County, making further contribution to the development of anticorrosion industry and ultimately making our own efforts in realizing the goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects.
This book, with its rich content and accurate and vivid description, lauds the essence of the culture of anticorrosion industry in Xiao County. It has filled the blank of the industry, just like a beautiful flower blossoming in the anticorrosion industry in China. When the editor of this book asked if I'd like to write a preface for the book, I agreed with delight and wrote this preface to share with all friends in the industry. This book is the intangible asset of the brand—"The First County Leading China's Anticorrosion Industry" and embodies the culture of anticorrosion industry in Xiao County. The successful publication of this book also marks the progress made in promoting balanced economics, political, cultural, social and ecological progress, and in promoting coordinated implementation of the Four-Pronged Comprehensive Strategy (i.e. of making comprehensive moves to finish building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, deepening reform, advancing the law-based governance of China, and strengthening Party self-governance) addressed by General Secretary Xi Jinping. People will be motivated by the book and will uphold "the spirit of anticorrosion" in Xiao County. The book will also play a critical role in promoting and developing China's culture in anticorrosion industry, realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and creating a sound environment for the successful convening of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
Therefore, it is such a delight to have this book published.
