Chapter 2 Globalization and China's Economy: 30-year Reform
In the 19th and 20th centuries, China was almost absent from globalization at the early stage. Depending on historical opportunities brought by the reform and opening-up and powerful external globalized trend in the 1980s, Chinese economy rose rapidly in 30 years after the foundation of the new China. However, with the outbreak of financial crisis in 2008 as boundary, both globalization and Chinese economy jointly went through the “30-year reform”. If the global economy had been confronted with sudden threat like an “acute disease” at the time of financial crisis, it would face with the persistent disturbance of the “chronic disease”. China, with its focus on maintaining stable situation and leading to revival, need to exhibit its leadership, which was to play a crucial role in promoting globalization and leading the reform of governance structure of world economy.
