Classroom activities
1 I sometimes get my pupils to practice new words by writing a story and drawing pictures to accompany it.
2 We often do a mingling activity, where the children have to find someone with a matching word or picture. The fastest pair wins.
3 After something like a board race, I try to settle pupils down with a story or a drawing activity.
4 We have a rule: Be nice! It's possibly the most important rule, because it sets the tone for the whole lesson.
5 Children like to hear positive feedback from their peers as well as from me. After any sort of creative activity I ask each group to say something they like about another group's work.
6 We always start the lesson with a song, as it focuses the students and gets them ready to learn.
For questions 7 – 13, match the teachers' instructions with the main cognitive strategies they aim to develop listed A – D.
Mark the correct letter (A – D) on your answer sheet.
You will need to use some options more than once.
