4.3.1 Specimen letters making firm offers
Letter 1
Dear Sir，

1.offer n.报盘，又称发盘。是卖方将某种商品按数量、价格、装船日期、付款条件等报给买方，表达成交的愿望。报盘分实盘（firm offer）和虚盘（non-firm offer）两种。实盘是发盘人按其所提供的条件以达成交易目的的表示。通常有答复期限的规定。一旦买方在此期限内完全接受了报盘内容，此报盘就对买卖双方均有约束力，卖方不得对报盘内容做任何修改。虚盘是卖方向买方表达按某些条件成交的愿望，但这些条件对卖方没有约束力，即便买方接受了报盘，卖方还可对盘的内容做修改。
常用的句型有：make/send/give sb.an offer for sth.

offer v.报盘

2.subject to your reply reaching here before July 15.以你方的答复于7月15日之前到达此地为准。这是实盘中的常用语句，说明报盘的有效期。
subject to 以……为条件（为准）
This offer is subject to our final confirmation.
此报盘以我方最后的确认为准（表示此报盘为虚盘）。
3.in the seller’s favor 以卖方为受益人，还可说in the favor of the seller。
4.after receipt of 收到……之后，等于after we receive...，类似的短语还有upon（on）receipt of 收到……后（即做某事）。
After receipt of your L/C，we will send the goods within 15 days.
收到你方信用证后我们会在15天之内发货。
5.Please note that.请注意……，这是商业信函中的常用句型，用以提醒收信人对某一内容给予特别关注。
Please note that the market for the goods is advancing and our price cannot remain unchanged for long.
请注意，目前这种产品的市场行情看涨，我们的价格不会很长时间保持不变。
6.5％ discount applies to orders for each item exceeding 1，000 sets.

5.draw vt. 开出汇票
常用的短语是：draw（a draft）on/upon sb.for.由于……向某人开具汇票

6.draw one’s attention to sth. 提请/提醒某人注意……

10.effect shipment 装船；完成装船
