6　Vertical Arrangement

6.1　General Requirements

6.1.1　Vertical arrangement of the iron and steel enterprise shall be considered together with the geneal layout and shall be in line with the requirements of construction by stages.

6.1.2　The vertical arrangement must meet the requirements for safety，production，transportation，handling，flood control and drainage of the site，etc.

6.1.3　Vertical arrangement of the plant area shall adapt to the level of the relevant external railway，road and drainage systems as well as the site of enterprises nearby or adjacent to the plant.

6.1.4　Vertical arrangement shall make the best of the landform，trying to reduce the volume of earth works and keep the volume of cuts and fills balanced during the same phase construction period.

6.1.5　Wherever possible，efforts shall be made during the vertical arrangement to protect and use the natural water drainage system and land vegetation；in case the existing drainage system must be modified，flow interception and diversion measures shall be adopted.

6.1.6　The design of steps in vertical arrangement shall make the most of the existing landform and the step arrangement shall create favorable conditions for arrangement of pipeline，elevated trestle bridge，and loading and unloading facilities such as high sliding platform，low freight section and collaborative freight section，etc.
