Foreword

According to the requirements specified in the Plan for Developing Professional Standards in 2006(Document Number:[2006]No.1093)issued by the General Office of National Development and Reform Commission,this Specification is revised by its drafting group based on wide and intensive investigations and studies made,practices summarized,comments requested as well as references to international codes and advanced foreign standards.

This Specification comprises 8 chapters and 6 appendixes.

The main technical contents of this Specification include the design basis,principles for material selection,design calculations,structural design,and fabrication,inspection and acceptance requirements of the columns.

This Specification is revised based on Specification for Design of Column in Petrochemical Industry(SH 3098-2000),and main revisions include:

—Supplement and revise this Specification in accordance with the Steel Vertical Vessels Supported by Skirts(JB/T 4710-2005);

—Supplement and modify the previous three chapters:Design Basis,Materials and Design Calculations;

—Adding another type of welded joint between the skirt and the hemispherical head of thick-wall columns;

—Modifing the locations and structure of vents at the up position of the skirt;

—Supplement and modify the data in tables related to column skirts;

—Revising the symbols in figure and tables for anchor bolt chairs of skirts;

—Supplement design provisions for nozzles and flanges;

—Adding strength calculations for packing support grids;

—Adding sketches for joint types between packing support beam and column shell;

—Adding vortex breaker types;

—Adding provisions for earth lugs,platforms and ladders nameplates and nameplate brackets;

—Supplement the provisions in Chapter 6:Fabrication,Inspection and Acceptance;

—Revising the appendixes.
