How is it used?

a little指“某物數量很少”，意思與little單獨使用時不同，請參考單元19。

a little與單數的不可數名詞搭配。

• Put a little of the mixture into each of the pastry cases.

在每個糕餅模具裏放一點攪拌好的混合物。

• Joe spent a little of the money and put the rest of it into his savings account.

祖用了這筆錢的一小部份，並將剩下的錢存入他自己的儲蓄戶口。

• I spilt a little of my drink on my shirt.

我濺了一點飲料在自己的襯衣上。

• Sue ate just a little of the soup, because she didn't like it very much.

蘇只喝了一點湯，因她不太喜歡它的味道。

• I overheard a little of their conversation, but not enough to know what they are planning to do.

我無意中聽到他們的一點對話，但未能憑所聽到的知道他們正計劃做甚麼。

a little也可以單獨使用，無須接of。

• The weather improved a little in the afternoon.

• Mary opened the bottle of juice and poured a little into her glass.
