Machine-madesandistherockparticalsingrainsizesmallerthan4.75mm(nominal grainsizesmallerthan5.00mm)whichismadeofrock minedafterremovingsurfacesoil,disruptedby machinesandsivedintorationalgrading.Withtheincreasinglyshortageof naturalsandresources,themachine-madesandhasbecomemoreandmoreimportancein research,productionandengineeringapplication.Astherationalsubstituteofnatural sand,machine-madesandplayedimportantroletoeffectiveprotectionofnaturalsandre-sources,riverchannelandfarmland.Nowadays,asoneofthesandresourceswithcharac-teristicsofwidesourcesandstablequality,machine-madesandhasbecome mainsand productin marketsupply,whichhaslong-term socialandenvironmentalbenefits.Meanwhile,asmainwaytobecomprehensivelyrecycledasadmixtureofconcrete,flyashplaysposi-tiveeffectsimprovingtheperformanceofconcrete.Therefore,researchandengineering applicationofmachine-madesandconcretewithorwithoutflyash(MSCorFAMSC)be-cametheimportantpartinthedevelopmentofbuildingmaterials.Itisthescientificbaseof widelyengineeringapplicationof MSCandFAMSCtosystematicallyresearchontheirall performances,itisalsothetechnicalbaseofstructuraldesign,constructionandmanage-ment,andtechnicalsupportofreliability,long-termserviceabilityanddurabilityofstruc-tures.
