Decision of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress on Approving the Amendment to Annex I to the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China Concerning the Method for the Selection of the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region

(Adopted at the 16th Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Eleventh National People's Congress on August 28，2010)

At its 16th Meeting，the Standing Committee of the Eleventh National People's Congress decides as follows:

In accordance to Annex I to the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China，the Interpretation by the Standing Committee of he National People's Congress of Article 7 of Annex I and Article III of Annex II to the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China and he Decision of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress on Issues Relating o the Methods for Selecting the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and for Forming the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in the Year 2012 and on Issues Relating to Universal Suffrage，the Amendment to Annex I to the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China Concerning the Method for the Selection of the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region proposed by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is hereby approved．

The Amendment to Annex I to the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China Concerning the Method for the Selection of the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region shall come into effect as of he date of approval．

附录　中华人民共和国香港特别行政区基本法附件—香港特别行政区行政长官的产生办法修正案

(2010年8月28日第十一届全国人民代表大会常务委员会第十六次会议批准)

一、二○一二年选举第四任行政长官人选的选举委员会共1200人，由下列各界人士组成:

工商、金融界　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　300人

专业界　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　300人

劳工、社会服务、宗教等界　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　300人

立法会议员、区议会议员的代表、乡议局的代表、香港特别行政区全国人大代表、香港特别行政区全国政协委员的代表　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　300人

选举委员会每届任期五年。

二、不少于一百五十名的选举委员可联合提名行政长官候选人。每名委员只可提出一名候选人。

Amendment to Annex I to the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China Concerning the Method for the Selection of the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region

(Approved at the 16th Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Eleventh National People's Congress on August 28，2010)

1．The Election Committee for electing the fourth-term Chief Executive in 2012 shall be composed of 1200 members from the following sectors:

Industrial，commercial and financial sectors:　　　　　300

The professions:　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　300

Labor，social services，religious and other sectors:　　300

Members of the Legislative Council，representatives of members of the District Councils，representatives of the Heung Yee Kuk，Hong Kong deputies to the National People's Congress，and representatives of Hong Kong members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference:　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　300

The term of office of the Election Committee shall be five years．

2.Candidates for the office of Chief Executive may be nominated jointly by not less than 150 members of the Election Committee．Each member may nominate only one candidate．

Amendment to Annex II to the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China Concerning the Method for the Formation of the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Its Voting Procedures

(Recorded at the 16th Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Eleventh National People's Congress on August 28，2010，promulgated by Proclamation No．15 of the Standing Committee of the Eleventh National People's Congress on August 28，2010，and effective as of the date of promulgation)

The fifth-term Legislative Council in the year 2012 shall be composed of 70 members，and the composition shall be as follows:

Members returned by functional constituencies:　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　35

Members returned by geographical constituencies through direct elections:　35．
