Qin Dahe is a geographer and a fellow of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS). Currently, he chairs the CAS Academic Committee and leads the Asian Geographical Association. He has extensive experience researching the cryosphere, climate change, and sustainable development. He supervised or participated in the research for the third, fourth, and fifth assessment reports of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Moreover, he spearheaded the research initiatives for the assessment reports on China’s climate and environment, extreme weather and climate events, and disaster risk management. In all, he has made important contributions to developing the science of climate change.
