(1)　石黑一雄在一篇题为《撒切尔的伦敦与政治变革时代的艺术家角色》（Thatcher's London and the role of the artist in a time of political change）的回忆性文章中称，莉诺·马歇尔太太（Mrs Lenore Marshall）是一九八二年冬他搬入的伦敦一幢维多利亚时代住宅的房东太太（“A few years later，following Lenore's sudden death，I dedicated The Remains of the Day to her memory.”）。
