The Strategies of Accelerating the Development of Central Cities in the Coastal Areas of Jiangsu
Abstract: The central cities are the core of regional development, playing the role of supporting, serving, radiating and driving the development in implementing the national strategies. Jiangsu coastal areas are in the intersection of “The Belt and Road” and the Yangtze River Economic Belt, guided by the national strategies. It is of great significance to speed up the development of central cities in those areas. At present, their urbanization is hindered by such problems as low level of urbanization, lagging behind the development of industries and ports; low urban primacy ratio, lack of central cities and urban agglomerations; loose urban spatial distribution and inadequate concentration and radiation. Therefore, we should strengthen the planning and guidance, speeding up the urbanization and city conglomeration, strengthening the leadership of Yancheng as the center of the coastal cities, building the Yan-Huai-Tai City Circle; accelerate the integration of cities and industries, consolidating the supportive role of industries, giving priority to the development of marine economy; optimize the space layout, constructing the three-in-one urban system, centered on key urban areas, major ports, and enclaves;build the modern transportation, expanding the radiation radius, speeding up the construction of high-speed railway, expressway, airport and inter-city（harbor-city）fast track; innovate the system, enhancing the quality of central city construction, building ecological cities to meet the international standards.
