4.Incidence and Prevalence of Major Chronic Diseases

4.1
The incidence rate of cancer was 235/100 000 in 2013. Lung cancer is the most frequently-occurring cancer among Chinese men and breast cancer among women.
4.2 Hypertension
The prevalence of hypertension in Chinese residents aged 18 years and above in 2012 was 25.2%: 26.8% and 23.5% for urban and rural respectively; 26.2% and 24.1% for male and female respectively. Compared with that of 2002, it was on the rise.
Compared with 30.2% in 2002, the awareness rate of hypertension in Chinese residents aged 18 years and above in 2012 was 46.5%: 43.0% and 49.5% for male and female respectively;and it would be increased with the age.
Compared with 24.7% in 2002, the treatment rate of hypertension in Chinese residents aged 18 years and above in 2012 was 41.1%: 37.4% and 44.2% for male and female respectively; and it would be increased with the age.
Compared with 6.1% in 2002, the control rate of hypertension in Chinese residents aged 18 years and above in 2012 was 13.8%: 12.9% and 14.6% for male and female respectively; and it would be increased with the age.
Compared with 25.0% in 2002, the treatment & control rate of hypertension in Chinese residents aged 18 years and above in 2012 was 33.6%: 34.5% and 32.9% for male and female respectively; and it would be increased with the age.
4.3 Diabetes
The prevalence of diabetes in Chinese residents aged 18 years and above in 2012 was 9.7%: 12.3% and 8.4% for urban and rural respectively; 10.2% and 9.0% for male and female respectively. Compared with that of 2002, it was on the rise.
The awareness rate of diabetes in Chinese residents aged 18 years and above in 2012 was 36.1%: 45.2% and 30.1% for urban and rural areas respectively; 35.3% and 37.2% for male and female respectively.
The treatment rate of diabetes in Chinese residents aged 18 years and above in 2012 was 33.4%: 41.8% and 27.9% for urban and rural respectively; 32.5% and 34.5% for male and female respectively.
The control rate of diabetes in Chinese residents aged 18 years and above in 2012 was 30.6%: 30.5% and 30.7% for urban and rural respectively; 28.9% and 32.6% for male and female respectively, almost at the same level.
The treatment & control rate of diabetes in Chinese residents aged 18 years and above in 2012 was 34.7%: 33.8% and 35.5% for urban and rural respectively; 34.0% and 35.4% for male and female respectively.
4.4 COPD
The prevalence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in Chinese residents aged 40 years and above was 9.9%, with which of male (13.6%) higher than that of female (6.3%).
4.5 Dyslipidemia
The prevalence of hypercholesterolemia in Chinese residents aged 18 years and above in 2012 was 4.9%: 5.6% and 4.3% for urban and rural respectively; 4.7% and 5.1% for male and female respectively. The prevalence of hypertriglyceridemia was 33.9%: 32.8% and 35.0% for urban and rural; 40.4% and 27.1% for male and female. The prevalence of dyslipidemia was 40.4%: 39.9% and 40.8% for urban and rural; 47.0% and 33.5% for male and female.
