5　Process Design of Rail Tank Car Cleaning Station

5.1　Cleaning Process

5.1.1　Tanker cleaning procedures shall include removal of residual oil，washing，blow-drying，post treatment and quality inspection.

5.1.2　Tanker cleaning methods shall be determined based on properties of residual oil left in the tanker and fresh oil to be loaded into the tanker，and cleaning category，etc.；Clean water washing at ambient temperature，and steaming washing，hot water flushing（or detergent solution washing）and blow cleaning（or air blowing cleaning）may be selected.

5.1.3　Pressurized hot water should be used for mechanical cleaning.Pressure of hot water（gauge pressure）should be within 0.8MPa-1.6MPa，and temperature of hot water should be within 60℃-80℃.

5.1.4　Wastewater shall be drained continuously and synchronously during mechanical cleaning and the flowrate of wastewater drainage shall not be lower than the flowrate of clean water supply.

5.1.5　Air blowing system shall be provided with protective measures to prevent fibres and dust from being carried into tanker.

5.1.6　Tanker cleaning for change-over shall be in accordance with specifications in the Appendix B.

5.1.7　Tanker cleaning for maintenance shall be in accordance with specifications in the Appendix B，and toxic gas and oil vapor concentrations in tanker shall also meet the specifications of current applicable national safety and health codes and standards.
