Automated Activity Capture
Automated Activity Capture is available if you have purchased one of the following products:
- Salesforce Einstein
- Salesforce Inbox
Configuring Automated Activity Capture involves the following steps for an admin:
- The first step is installing packages such as Sales Insights and SalesforceIQ Cloud from Salesforce AppExchange. AppExchange is installed by visiting the appexchange.salesforce.com. The installation will need your production Salesforce organization credentials. For Inbox users, the users in their Salesforce organization can install the Salesforce Inbox Control Panel. The application can be installed from AppExchange (https://appexchange.salesforce.com/listingDetail?listingId=a0N3000000CNj52EAD). The following screenshot shows the installation screen for the Salesforce Inbox Control Panel application. Follow the installation prompt:
- Once the installation is complete, the next steps are to create a permission set for users requiring access. Assign the user, the permission for Automatic Activity Capture. The screenshot shows various permissions available for your Salesforce organization. Note that these features require Sales Cloud Einstein License for your Salesforce organization. The path to find Permission Sets in Salesforce is Setup | Manage Users | Permission Sets. Create new Permission Set and choose license as Sales Cloud Einstein:
- For the first time, Salesforce users need to authorize their Gmail or Office 365 account to Salesforce. For Inbox users, Salesforce provides mobile apps for iOS or Android and, for desktop, a chrome extension located at https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/salesforce-inbox/cnkgdfnjmgamkcpjdljdncfjcegpgcdg?hl=en-US.
- Using the Lightning App Builder, add the Einstein component to the home page, and to Lightning pages for accounts, leads, and opportunities.
To get the most out of Opportunity Insights, recommend to Sales representatives to set the Sharing Setting for All Emails and Events to Everyone.
To easily track sales activities, Sales Cloud Einstein includes activity reports that provide a summary of key activities, including those added with Automated Activity Capture. Note that you will need an Einstein Sales Cloud license to get access to the Automated Activity Capture feature.
Each organization gets five Wave app (applications from Salesforce to build analytics) permission set licenses. If you assign a permission set license to a user, they can access the activity reports from the Einstein Analytics tab.
The following screenshot shows the Einstein Analytics tab, which has charts to show various activities:
