
Abstract
The development of tissue engineering related regenerative medicine plays an important role in various tissue repair and regeneration.The combination of stem cells and biomaterials or growth factors and biomaterials have proved to be effective in promoting the repair and regeneration of various tissues.In recent years,with the in-depth understanding of the repair process and the development of drug screening platform,small molecules have gradually come into people’s attention.Small molecules have the characteristics of easily synthesis,low cost,controllability and so on,have attracted wide attention.Currently,small molecules can be used to realize reprogramming,dedifferentiation and directional differentiation in variety of cells.Therefore,using small molecules to obtain target cells is an important means of future cell therapy.At the same time,small molecules can replace the key growth factors in repair and regeneration pathways,in order to realize the regulation of local critical repair signal network.In this chapter,the development of small molecules in tissue repair is summarized,and the application status and progress of biomaterials compounded with small molecules in nerve, bone,cartilage,cardiovascular and skin repair are reviewed.Finally,the problems of small molecules in tissue repair are analyzed,and the development in tissue repair is prospected.Small molecule therapy will be a very important tool in the field of regenerative medicine in the future.
